Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Services Inc. obtains approval for TCAS II & ADS-B

Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Services Inc. announces the addition of a new STC ST01691WI and expands their portfolio with TCAS II and ADS-B In and Out for the Citation aircraft. Incorporating the Garmin GTS 8000 TCAS II, GTX 3000 Transponders and GTN 750/650 products will greatly modernize the cockpit and enhances the safety of the aircraft.

“The newly developed software from Garmin will allow for us to remove an existing TCAS control head and utilize the GTN radios as a TCAS II controller. This will free up precious panel space.” Said Lance Fox, President of Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Services, Inc. “We included multiple Citation aircraft with this STC (500, 550, S550, 560 & 560XL). This is a great way for the earlier model aircraft to comply with ADS-B. It could be a first step for the Citation 560XL operators who are interested in the G5000 program, which we have been closely working with Garmin on.”

With the addition of the TCAS II and ADS-B transponders, Columbia Avionics & Aircraft Services, Inc will use its existing STC for the Garmin GTN 750/650, GMA 35 Audio panel and GDL 69 Weather Datalink to provide operators with a cost effective solution to upgrade their aircraft. The Garmin GTN GPS/NAV/COM capabilities provide features like intuitive touchscreen operation, graphical flight planning, victor airway and high-altitude jet route navigation, remote transponder, SafeTaxi® and more. Modernizing the aircraft with this new state of the art technology reduces the pilots work load, provides safety and aircraft value.
